Experience

My passion is teaching. That is why I am attending graduate school and will be obtaining my master's degree in social studies education in May. I have a worked in the classroom teaching in a wide range of grades from preschool through high school. I presently teach special needs students in a middle school setting. I believe that each individual should receive a personalized approach to their teaching. A "one size fits all" approach just does not work when tutoring students because they all have varying abilities and strengths. I enjoy using many methods to teach concepts so that each student can reach their greatest potential. I feel that my students should feel supported in our work together and I help build that rapport by establishing good communication with them. Some of the subjects that I have experience teaching are essay editing and writing, U.S. and European history, English, business, and study and organizational skills. I can also help students work on college preparation, whether it is entrance exams or essay writing. My goal in working with a student is to pull from my experience, interests, and background in order to help the student succeed.In my spare time, I enjoy reading, writing, and history. I also enjoy traveling.
